Nestled at the South Pole, Antarctica is the coldest, wildest, driest and windiest destination on Earth, which is obviously not inhabited except for some scientists in the research labs here. So, cruising until here is something of an inherent interest out of curiosity for a majority of the people. The first Antarctic cruise floated in 1966 that with the leader by Lars-Eric took the first group to the continent. And this too, had a purpose behind this – to get extremely inclined for protecting the hypersensitive ecology by exploring Antarctica. This mission is still ongoing even today, but the tourists can cruise to this continent only for four months of the year of which December and January are the peak months.

For the travelers, Antarctica is lush with unbelievable beauty amidst adventure when an Antarctica cruise takes them to the sub-Antarctic islands in summer months. Enjoy spotting a myriad of wildlife like seabirds, whales and seals; marvel at the glaciers, and photograph the unseen landscapes. Travelers mostly explore the sub-Antarctic islands such as the Auckland Islands as well as Campbell Island after starting the trip from New Zealand. There are cruises also from the Lyttelton-Christchurch, New Zealand, which takes one to the Eastern Antarctica as well as the famous Ross Sea terrain. So, get ready to reach at the end of the world!

All the backpackers who come to Indonesia are very well-versed with the amazing holiday destinations such as Jakarta, Bandung, and Bali. However, this time, I as one of them planned for a less familiar holiday spot – Pulau Pramuka. Surprisingly, there is so much here to see and do on this island, which kept me thinking as to why this has not yet become a famous vacation retreat. However, I spent my full time in diving.

Pulau Pramuka is among the closest, biggest, and most inhabited islands in Indonesia. On Saturday early morning, I visited the ODY office at 7 and was on time to leave for the Ancol Marina from where we will begin our journey to this island. ODY offers its own port and resort for an intimate diving experience. With me, there were some more six people all of whom were from USA. We left with via a boat and the wind blowing over my face was just making me feel good. As we move farther from the port, the water was getting much clearer with the color change to dark blue. Passing by boats and ships, we all reached Pulau Pramuka within an hour. We all land down the boat in no time. This time, I was even more excited as well as curious about the trip on the clear waters and amidst the green trees.

To store the air tanks, we first accessed the wooden dock where two big wooden houses fronted with open space exist. In this small space, I was amazed to see a broad bed covered with a light-colored mattress as well as many pillows. With this, I just could not stop myself to lie down and have a nap. Well, I hope you must have understood that this was our waiting station for diving. For me, I didn’t have that much time that I could rest for a while because I was in just the second group whose turn was obviously after the first group diving round. From this resort, our hotel was just at the walking distance called Wisma Dermaga where my room was on the second floor.

Back on the rest point, I spend some time in exploring the island that was quite small with ships passing by, kids playing on the shore, and paved alleys splitting the dwellings. However, the island is still wonderful and also maintains turtle conservation. In some time, our instructor Deden called us for diving and so we three people headed towards the port, changed our clothes, and prepared and checked the gear that was heavy (3 lbs weight).

My first dive was at a wooden platform that is 5 m deep and was supposed to be a training dive area. Holding a rope, I went down feeling somewhat uneasy. At the base, we learned about the primary skills like putting regulator again. We all did this so fast as we were excited for some real diving that was our next activity along the reef, which was a total fun with some mistakes like mask getting lose and over the ears. Ok, but I managed it all! Now, it was lunch time and the lunch table was so coolly set under the trees.

For our second dive, we traveled for half an hour on the boat and then dived from a site behind the island. This was where I saw a floral garden along with colorful fish as well as anemone. This was a sensational one with much tranquility, water, and regulator bubbles only present here. I was deep down for 60 minutes at 14 m.

In the evening, we went back to Pulau Pramuka where at night we had dinner. On our way, we all shared our experiences with each other including the instructor. Finally, I was so tired to just sleep down on my bed in the room.

Regarded as one of the Italy’s treasures, Cinque Terre is a rocky coastal area adorning the Italian Riviera’s Liguria region. It is the home of ‘Five Lands’ that encompasses five famous hamlets namely, Vernazza, Monterosso al Mare, Manarola, Corniglia, and Riomaggiore. These villages, shoreline, and the flanking hillsides now belong to the Cinque Terre National Park.

This World Heritage site is remarkable for its natural beauty and the settlements that people have made over centuries along with terraces upon the steep and rocky landscape ending on the cliffs projecting into the sea. Upon a look, it might look scary, but it is a pure fun! Undoubtedly, Cinque Terre is the very famous destination on the tourist map. Although the villages are connected by trains and boats, tourists like to take up the hiking trail to explore them making hiking the most loved way of the tour.

This is the cliff side trail offering many amazing vistas over the Ligurian Sea. Residing in the Cinque Terre National Park, hiking has limited timings. So, do not think it to be a 24/7 activity. This is known as the Blue Trail that differs at each village in terms of the difficulty level and maintainability. Just picking this activity will make you visit each Cinque Terre town and while you hike just follow as per the red and white markers that lead you, or else you will be easily lost. You will need five hours to complete this trail, which do not include the time you want to spend at each town. So, it is recommended to start early in the morning.

From Riomaggiore to Manarola

Known as ‘Via dell’Amore’ meaning a native Lover’s Lane, this part of the Cinque Terre trail is easiest. It is a total flat hike with paved feature. If you really are not in mood of wandering, ambling, or passing time here, then this hike if just of 20 minutes.

From Manarola to Corniglia

To the Manarola’s north, this trail is also flat, but not cobbled still continuing with your easy experience. However, this easiness is only until Corniglia. This is because this town is not nestled on the sea level, but is rather atop a cliff. The closer you get to Corniglia; you will see the train tracks between the trail and water alongside. At the bottom of the hill on which this town is perched, you will halt at the train station from where switchback stairs start. There are over 360 steps for entering the town. Alternatively, catch a shuttle bus to be at the top. This is available to the station’s right. The total hiking time on this section of the Blue Trail is 60 minutes. However, if you require breaks, it might be more than this.

From Corniglia to Vernazza

To hike this part of the trail, it is necessary for you to be up on the hill as the town of Corniglia is atop. This trail actually goes downwards on the hill for most of the times despite the fact that there are a few steep zones. Some parts are formed from unevenly-shaped stone steps that need caution as well as attention while walk. It is from here that your hiking becomes risky – some sections are very narrow, while a few have a vineyard wall or some foliage on a side with a cliff on the other. However, despite this, the trail is crowded forever. After reaching Vernazza, an array of extremely sheer switchback steps take one down to the town. This is the hike of 1.5 hours.

From Vernazza to Monterosso al Mare

This is the most adventurous hike because it is up, down, and steepest with cliff side drop-offs on a side. Therefore, you will have to witness a plenty of halts. However, the scenes of stunning olive orchards as well as vineyards are plenty as you move ahead on this rough trail shaded by cool forest. This is very satisfying and refreshing if you are hiking during the summer mid day. Further, this one offers the ideal vistas of the bay. The total time of this hike is 2 hours excluding too many stops.

Take up the Sanctuary trail from this one, which will take you to a shrine in the hill of each town. As they are not well marked, do so with a help of a map.

Entry fee

€5 per person

If you want to come by rail, catch a train from La Spezia that is on its way to Genoa. This one passes through a long tunnel between Monterosso and Riomaggiore and also offers the views of the Mediterranean.

Looking for some challenging adventure in the waters of Mexico? Then, it is none other than cave diving – the most dangerous and exciting on Earth! Mexican cave diving is just matchless because of its opportunity to see its indigenous marine species that are not found anywhere else on the planet. Considered one of the world’s best experiences, the diving here is of two types namely, the cave diving and cavern diving, which also are the unique types of cenote diving. A cenote refers to a fresh water body linked to the underwater caverns as well as other cenotes. A round hole in ground is a standard cenote seen all across Mexico. Now, a cavern diving refers to dive near to the cave entrance and being under the sunlight; while a cave diving involves swimming in the cave where there is no sunlight. So, Mexican cave diving involves one of the most dangerous diving experiences in form of cave diving.

Originally, the Yucatan peninsula was submerged. Today, all ground water goes via the porous limestone and meets underground rivers to meet the sea. So, there are no rivers seen above. With passing of time, a few limestone fragments became fragile making them to crumble forming sinkholes of water, which is now called a cenote. At the time of ice age, sections of submerged rivers dried leaving mineral deposits behind to form wonderful decorations in form of stalactites and stalagmites. As these areas are dangerous to travel, it is only the dedicatedly trained cave divers who are allowed to enter these cave complexes via the entrances of cenotes. For making the truly Mexican cave diving a bit straightforward, most of the open cenotes to public boasts a fixed serving line as a reference. A complete Mexican cave diving can be learnt in a week involving at least 14 cave dives.

Overall, there is no other place on Earth, which holds the underwater caves as many as the Yucatan, especially its celebrated coastal area of Riviera Maya expanding from just Tulum to south of Playa del Carmen. Although the entire Yucatan is known for its breathtaking formations and unbelievable clarity of water, Mayan Riviera is the most preferred for its more than 100 different cave gateways and endless passageways of which a majority are extraordinarily beautiful. In this area, the caves are comparatively shallower, which acts as one more encouraging factor of Mexican cave diving. You can also plan to visit Akumal for cave and cavern diving that opens a new world of the sea to those awaiting divers who have managed to take a risk. Listed below are some cenotes open for a real Mexican cave driving experience.

Chac Mool:
Nestled at 22 km from Playa Del Carmen across Puerto Adventuras, this is the home of two cenotes offering wonderful forest vistas in the cavern. Expect a restaurant as well as bathrooms here.

Ponderosa (El Eden):
This is at 3 km from Puerto Aventuras, which is incredibly extraordinary! Just walk for some time to be at the Coral Cenote holding a big island in the middle. You can swim and snorkel very well – thanks to its unlimited visibility making you to view eels, fish, and turtles along with the others for $5.

Chikin Ha:
This is also very near to Puerto Aventuras accessible down the bumpy road. This path via the forest leads one to more cenotes of which one is dry, holds many fossils, and is big. You can swim here via a tunnel to be at the submerged air chamber.

Kantun Chi:
This is accessible from the above cenote and offers four half dome cenotes with jungle trails. The cenotes are called Uchil Ha, Kantun Chi, Zazil Ha, and Zaskaleen of which one is remotest offering an old Mayan temple. There are good facilities here such as restaurant, zoo, horseback riding, and rentals. Avoid swimming, but go for snorkeling for an entry of $10.

Azul:
Accessible from the above and located near the highway, this is in very light setting of a forest offering comparatively more sunlight and open air. There is only a snack bar here and the fee is 30 pesos.

Taj Mahal:
Reachable from Playa Del Carmen as well as the nearest Puerto Aventuras, this is the site of four linked cenotes, a restaurant, and bathrooms. With 40 pesos, this one is best for the advanced snorkelers who have to swim 5 m under a submerged rock wall for entering a big open cave of shining light.

Dos Ojos (Hidden Worlds):
Accessible from Xel-Ha, this belongs to the Nohoch Nah Chich cave complex offering superb snorkeling amidst stalagtites & stalagmites for $10 and $25 to 40 for a tour.

Temple of Doom (Skull):
This is easily accessible from Tulum and is quite rocky jungle that is not marked well. Well shaded by jungle, there are three holes forming a skull shape giving the site its name. However, it is best site for swimming via rope and ladder.

Gran (White Water):
This is among the famous sites located at 5 km from Tulum where ladder takes one to the crescent cenote holding small openings as well as passages. Meant for all ages, snorkeling is just great here within its shallow and deep waters for 50 pesos.

Cristal (Naharon):
On the same road from Tulum to Coba, this is best for both swimming as well as snorkeling

Escondido (Mayan Blue):
Nestled across the above one, this is serene, clear, remote and beautiful Tarzan style cenote famous for swimming and snorkeling.

Tip:
Look for the cenotes in the Steve Gerrard’s book, but a guide is needed for sure.

Belonging to the famous Annapurna circuit trek, the Jomsom trek is one of the most taken up hiking adventures that takes one through the Kali Gandaki River’s valley from Pokhara to the most sacred destination of Muktinath. This latter spot is a pilgrimage destination on the Tibetan plateau for both Hindus and Buddhist. Not rising over 3800 m and taking you via its highest elevation point of 5400 m Thorung La, this trek is comparatively easy and is known for its wonderfully diverse experience.

The Jomsom trek is certainly a great chance to explore the charm as well as witness of the Annapurna. It is 8 to 10 days trek that begins from the Pokhara city in north and then meanders via the Poon Hill as well as the Dhaulagiri icefall offering each hiker the delightful vistas of the mountains. While in Pokhara, the Jomsom trek leads you to a blissfully varied zone at 900 m after which it slowly ascends to an alpine territory from the fertile fields as well as sub-tropical jungle to go beyond Jomsom until a land that looks dry and like a desert. As you move ahead towards the north, Buddhist and Tibetan influences are felt. Residing in the valley of Kali Gandaki, the Thakali tribe is very much adored for their hospitality due to whom you feel like staying in one of the comfortable lodges along the trek.

It is much recommended to take up a shorter trek such as Jomsom trek rather than going for the entire Annapurna circuit. This is because it is not that tiresome and you can also pick up more activities such as rafting, animal spotting, and sightseeing in Kathmandu valley. Especially for this trek, the accommodation in form of lodges as well as tea houses is excellent and that the climb is straightforward followed by a descent.

The Jomsom trek begins at New Bridge near Birethanti on the main road. This is accessible from Pokhara by taxi or bus that takes just 30 to 40 minutes. This bridge acts as the starting point for many treks. After this, an amble for 6 hrs starts to reach Tirkhedunga. The initial part climbs via the rice terraces as well as hamlets of the brave Gorkha folks. At Ghadruk, a charming museum of Traditional Nepalese Life is worth seeing after which you go via the rhododendron forests where the splendid Annapurna emerges via the jungle leading to Ghorepani at 2775 m. Once you reach here, you can spot the Annapurna Conservation Area Project (ACAP) head office. This is where you apply for a trekking admission after contributing $13. Enjoy the sun rising from the close by Pun hill from where you will admire the panorama of the flanking summits such as Dhaulagiri and Annapurna. The other day, you start with the descent to Tatopani that is of 7 to 8 hours. This is famous for its natural hot springs bringing some more excitement to your adventure. Now, three days are dedicated to reach Rupse, Lete, and Tukche respectively offering some wild views. After this, the next day, you start trekking again to reach the far north that is Kagbeni, a close relative of the Mustang Region for whose visit, a special permit that is expensive is required.

The other day morning you reach Muktinath where a temple exists. This is where you will see a horde of pilgrims who are either Buddhist or Hindu. Each of them takes up a ritual bath even though the water here is very chilled. The temple holds 108 falls coming from taps and that there are unexplained natural gas coming out here. Now, your trek goes downhill on the Tibetan plateau to be at the Jomsom village that holds the entrance to the Prohibited Kingdom of Mustang along with the discovery of still going ancient traditions.

The best time to come for the Jomsom trek is in spring and autumn – September to December and from March to May. Overall, the trek is full of good sections, but the ascents are occasionally sheer enough.

Soaring until 6714 m, Mount Kailash is the most sacred pilgrimage destination for more than one religious cult. It is not only the dream of Hindus, but is also a desire of the Jains, Buddhists, and Bonpos to trek Mount Kailash. For Hindus, it is the home of Lord Shiva, Jains consider it to be the spot from where their first apostle Lord Rishabhdeva was liberated, and Buddhists consider it to be the site which Buddha magically visited in 5th century B.C leaving footprints on the rocks of Kora surrounding Kailash.

Surprisingly, this sacred mountain believed to be the centre of the universe was formed 50 millions years ago, even before the Himalayas. It is a remotely notable peak in western Tibet, which is the most worshipped by over thousands of people annually. The only way to reach here is certainly via the difficult Kailash trek via Simikot that is nestling on the frontier of Nepal and Tibet. Simikot is the recently opened tourist site. Most of the tourists migrate through the helicopter until the border after which they cross on foot followed by drive to Purang and then to Mount Kailash and the holy lake of Manasarovar Lake.

However, if you want take up some challenging adventure on your religious excursion, then go for the Kailash trek. It is an experience that is not possible to describe in words as you amble on the highland altitude exploring the west Tibetan culture. This extraordinary voyage leads one via the secret Humla valley in west most Tibetan rim before reaching the mythical Kailash. The Kailash trek begins from Simikot after reaching there by flight in Nepal. It then follows the old salt trading route leading to the Nara Langa pass and then halting at the Taklakot’s border trade post. Then, the trek reaches the Gurla Mandata Mountain and continuing in the north to the Lake Manasarovar’s shore and the Rakshas Tal Lake. After this, you reach the Darchen settlement on the base of the Mount Kailash.

Now, you will be on the ‘kora’ trek (holy walk) of the mount, which meets the trail thronged by many pilgrims leading to Kailash at the time of summer. This marks the end of the Kailash trek. Once you have completed this, camp at the shore of the lake Manasarovar for relaxation. Then, take up the jeep drive eastwards to explore the long Zangpo River as well as the extensive Tibet Plateau. Just take up a chance to enjoy the majestic views of the Himalayas by moving south up to Zangmu town on the border for gaining an entry in Nepal from the Friendship Bridge.

Therefore, the main highlights of the exciting trip to this most sacred place on Earth via the Kailash trek are arduous trekking of 5600 m, relaxing camping, and driving via the wild and isolated western Nepal and Tibet. This trek is fully supported and boasts the required camping equipments. While you trek with a guide, see to it that you carry light back pack and let the luggage be taken over by pack animals.

Nestled at a distance of 90 km from San Jose in northwest Costa Rica, the Arenal Volcano is an active soaring over 5000 feet in the district of La Fortuna. It is known by many more names such as Canaste, Volcan Rio Frio, Pan de Azucar, and Volcan Costa Rica. Believed to be not even 7000 years, the Arenal volcano is a young strato volcano that boasts a shape of a cone whose surface is highly vegetated and a crater that is quite wide. Formerly, it was the volcano with only one crater at its peak, but after the eruption of 1968, three additional craters got formed on the western sides of which one is only seen currently.

Regarded as the Costa Rica’s most active volcano, the Arenal volcano is also among the world’s 10 most active volcanoes. As per the experts, the volcanic activity is today not that damaging even though one can yet spot the columns of ash, shimmering orange lava, unexpected eruptions daily, and subterranean echoing. Therefore, it is now a days attracting a myriad of tourists. In addition, its ideal conical shape facilitates splendid vistas of the volcanic activity in the crater. If you come here with a guide at night, you can also see a scene of red lights along with the tense eruptions.

Considered as a mesmerizing natural wonder and a spectacular mount, the Arenal volcano is a must visit site for a tourist in Costa Rica. It is not that difficult to see its red-hot rocks running down the vertical slants and high volcanic ash columns over the crater because eruptions almost occur on a daily basis. In fact, since 1968, the volcano is constantly erupting following the reawakening after 400 years. Further, the volcano irregularly places off a staged flow of rapidly flowing hot gas as well as rock.

To reach the volcano, one needs to enter the Arenal Volcano National Park that is located at 15 kilometres from the La Fortuna district. It offers some beautiful vistas of the volcano. It is also easy to see the lava as the park’s location is on the same side as that of the lava flow, that is west. However, it is not certain as to when this lava will change its path. So, you need to strictly follow the instructions of your experienced guide. In the park, there are two short trails of 2 km and 3.4 km, which go beyond the young jungle as well as the old lava fields of the former big eruptions. To know which trail is open, you need to contact any of the park rangers who maintain a look at the volcanic activity constantly. The total hiking time is of 4 hours and it is scheduled to start at 8 am and 2 pm totaling up to two chances of hiking in a day. The park belongs to the Arenal Conservation Area and holds much geologic and biological density.

Besides exploring the volcano, you can also take the benefit of many action-packed activities in the zone of Arenal. These include rafting, mountain biking, horseback riding, canopy tours, waterfall rappelling, hanging bridges, wildlife viewing, zip lines, hot springs, and cave tours. So, it is obvious that you will definitely wish to live in the Arenal area for some days. Many of these activities take around the volcano, while some aim at ending at the site of the volcano.

There is one more way to enjoy the view of the Arenal volcano. This is the Sky Tram gondola that is a slow paced one offering a flat ride. Via this gondola, you get a chance to observe the rain forest that itself provides countless vistas along the way. Therefore, you can easily admire the natural charm of Costa Rica, which flanks you as to ride further at the top. The moment you reach the observation deck, your eyes will certainly be stunned to capture the most breathtaking vistas of the volcano’s south side. You can keep on gazing as long as you wish either standing or seating on one of the chairs. Overall, it is only half an hour ride from La Fortuna village. It is very easy to take up this ride if you stay at Arenal Paraiso or Tabacon hotels.

Adorning the Tanna island of Vanuatu, Mount Yasur is a live volcano that is constantly erupting lava daily from a height of 361 m. Nestled on the shore besides the Sulphur Bay, the Yasur volcano is near the taller Tukosmera volcano that was live in the prehistoric times. This strata volcano is in form of a cone and its slopes do not boast any kind of vegetation. Its summit is almost circular that has a diameter of 400 m. There are two interesting reasons as to why one would like to visit the Yasur volcano. First, it is very easy as well as safe to reach to its crater; second, the mountain has been continuously erupting accounting for many times per hour. One more encouraging factor for the visit is that it was this volcano’s glow that pulled Captain James Cook towards this coast in the late 18th century. Okay, besides these geographical and historical facts, the Yasur volcano also gains a holy significance from the cargo cult of John Frum, a blessed messenger who forecasted about the incoming riches and is thought to dwell in the mountain.

As several tourists come here to explore the Yasur volcano, the local government has defined access levels for the safety purpose. Level 0 indicates full access to the crater; Level 1 also denotes the same, but the activity is a bit more than low in case of Level 0; Level 2 stands for fair to high activity featuring bombs of lava landing farther from the edge of the crater closing the access to it; Level 3 means acute activity featuring bursting lava bombs with loud explosions, smoke, and ash closing the entry into the summit area; Level 4 represents major outbursts that affect the surrounding areas.

The mount is composed of different rock layers and molten rock erupts via a middle crater including bright lava as well as cloud of steam, ash, and smoke. Considering this, the Yasur volcano is rated as Level 2. But, I would ideally call it 3 because now a days the tour guides easily let you go very close to the crater despite the fact that their job is to avoid risks and dangers for the visitors. They allow you to go much closer than what it is permitted. And the fact is that this volcano is becoming too active each day that the moment you reach nearest to the crater, lava bombs just get blew over your heads very easily due to which some killings have already been recorded here. Therefore, it is just fine to remain within the safe distance for spotting those red hot fireworks and lava. The worst part is that even if you were to ask the guide as to whether it is safe going there, they would reply positively even if that sight is surely not that safe. This has happened with me and the moment I was near the crater, a big lava bomb passed from over my head!

Therefore, accordingly, avoid taking children to the crater of the Yasur volcano. Similarly, it is also not apt for the elders or sick people. In case a lava bomb is seen over your head by you, kindly avoid running and wait until you know where it has fell so that you can avoid going via that route. Secondly, just do not come here in a large group as we go at other places. Somewhat scaring was the sight of a lava bomb land out of the rim at 100 m.

The best activity that you can enjoy here is photography that is just captivating at any time. Do so at sunset especially as there is much glow to light up the rim of the crater. Certainly, the plume of ash as well as red lava bombs will just form the adventurous background. However, you have only 30 minutes for photography as darkness will completely take over after that. At night, the sight of volcano seems to be more like a fireworks display making it hard for you to focus. I would advise to carry some spare batteries as your photo taker will take much time on standby. In fact, the ideal way of photography is to use a tripod along with a distant shutter release so that you can easily gaze at the fireworks.

Wish to discover a mountain that is younger than you? If yes, then this time plan to visit the most active volcano on the planet that is Kilauea. It is the territory that is not even 10 years old. I think that with these two statements, one can imagine the excitement and fascination hidden in the trip of Kilauea volcano hiking. Dwelling on the Big Island of Hawaii, Kilauea is paradoxically the most simple to approach volcano that is only at a distance of 15 miles from the towering Mauna Loa volcano. Do not be that surprise to know this because Hawaii itself is formed from the lava of the volcanoes. Contradicting the belief that the shield Kilauea volcano is the part of this latter volcano, it has a unique magma chamber and is nestled in the Hawaii Volcanoes National Park. The volcano has played a significant role in forming the largest as well as youngest island of Hawaii by pouring out 3 billion cubic yards until now since 1983 forming 600 acres of novel territory and making high-end changes to the island’s territory. This is the reason that it is named Kilauea that means ‘to spread much’. However, a majority of the eruptions are gradually moving flows.

A trip to the Volcanoes National Park including the Kilauea volcano is a must as it is an experience that anyone will relish as well as cherish. The terrain here is just unthinkable, while the entrance is unparalleled on Earth. The entire park landscape is the outcome of eruption for more than 70 million years and evolution blessing the area to hold the diverse setting starting from sea level to the giant Mauna Loa’s apex. Herein, the Kilauea volcano is not only the top attraction for the visitors who admire the dramatic terrain, but also for the scientists who are always eager to know more about the island birth. With its 60 miles of paves roads and 119 miles of unusual hiking trails with the camping facilities, the park is designated as the World Heritage Site along with the International Biosphere Reserve.

Hiking is possible across the caldera that stays on the territory of just some years old below which the magma is just at 300 feet. Now, this is where the true adventure and fun lies! This activity on the Kilauea volcano facilitates the visitors to spot for the features and sights that only the geologists mostly get to see. So, do not miss this wonderful opportunity to explore the rare volcanic trip of Hawaii, which requires many days of discovery. The trails here are full of lava tubes, green rain forests, desert, craters, steam vents, islands of foliage separated via the lava flows, and even the sites of eruption holding liquid lava. On my trip, I could walk for some six miles on a medium level trail. However, you will find trails of simple to hard levels. Despite the fact that risk is meager, do not play or enter the collapsing lava if you can see it and avoid entering the closed areas. Just follow the instructions of the park rangers and you will be safe from any kind of unstable land and inactive vents that are so deep to take you down forever. As sulphur dioxide surrounds the park, young children, pregnant ladies, heart patients, and lung victims should not hike at all.

It is also interesting to know that the Kilauea volcano is recognized as a holy site by the traditional Hawaiian inhabitants. This territory is considered as the home of Pele, the ancient deity of volcano whose hair and tears are actually the names given to the formation of the lava particles erupted from the vent in 2008.

Interlaken’s fame is no fluke. Paragliding Interlaken is a unique experience. Interlaken has a wonderful landscape. The local inhabitants have used the landscape to their advantage. Interlaken has become an important tourist destination because of its paragliding activities.

Paragliding Interlaken takes place over two alpine lakes. Each lake is surrounded by pristine meadows. Interlaken has an abundance of magnificent villages. The three snow-capped mountains include Eiger, Monch, and Jungfrau.

Interlaken is Switzerland’s capital when it comes to outdoor sports. There are many opportunities for paragliding Interlaken. Experienced operators conduct tandem flights. It is a win-win situation for everyone.

The sites for paragliding can be reached by a short drive. Thunersee is the predominant peak with major sites for paragliding. A short briefing will explain your expectations and conduct. Adequate instructions are given in this briefing. A few more steps and your pilot launches you in the air. You will see the pine forests and the valley sail beneath you. The meadow may obscure the scenic views. However, as you spend more time paragliding Interlaken, the view becomes clearer.

To glide, warm air bubbles are utilized by the turning circles. Humid days offer the opportunity of touching the magnificent clouds that hover around the hill.

The pilots are known for their perfection, just like Swiss watches. Every hour sees a new paragliding event, provided the weather is favorable. There are scores of tourists who wish to indulge in paragliding Interlaken. With so many tourists arriving at the same time, you may have to form groups known as ‘gaggle’. Harter is a rocky region that provides a beautiful aerial view of the region. As you paraglide, the locals appear as Lilliputs.

The landing is started by some wing overs that are obligatory. A spiral dive may be included. It has been in practice to eliminate height. Paragliding Interlaken is fun. It is a sort of a roller coaster ride that is three dimensional. You may land right in the middle of the town. However, be careful not to sit while you land. You will have to run for a few yards before you can earn a high-five from the pilot.

Interlaken has several, trendy bars that can be visited after paragliding. You may witness many landings from here.

There are a plethora of tour operators offering paragliding flights from different locations. Grindlwald is one such spot. It lies at the feet of the Eiger.
